Covid – 19 Update
As most of you will now be aware, schools will be officially closed from Wednesday afternoon. The Prime Minister has put the country into Alert Level 3 and within 48 hours, Alert Level 4.
ONLY children from identified essential workers are allowed at school tomorrow and Wednesday. If you are unsure if your job is currently noted as an essential service, please refer to covid19.govt.nz. From Thursday onwards, nobody will be allowed on the school site.
Other students must now stay at home, as per the Prime Minister’s directive. To stay informed of developments, please refer to the various news media sites and the Ministry of Education.
Buses that collect or drop students directly to and from Kamo Intermediate will not be operating tomorrow or Wednesday because of restrictions due to ages of drivers. We cannot guarantee the operation of buses originating from Kamo High School.
The school holidays have been brought forward by two weeks and officially start next Monday, 30/3. They will run until Tuesday 14/4. For the remainder of this week and after 14 April, students are welcome to engage with learning activities posted on our website or through google classroom. In addition to digital activities, we encourage students to participate in more life skill based activities. e.g. planning and preparing a meal, planting out a vegetable garden, checking out the weather conditions to see if they are suitable for fishing, or making a fitness plan for the family.
School staff will also be working remotely as we have been told that we are ‘unable to access the school site from midnight Wednesday’.
This is unprecedented for all of us. We must remain vigilant and support one another in a kind and caring way. Our elderly and most vulnerable will need continued support.
I thank you all for your ongoing support. Updates will be on our facebook page and school website.
