We are rapidly approaching the end of the school year and the Kamo Intermediate Parent Support Group wanted to take this opportunity to update you on our involvement with the school thus far.

In case you aren’t aware, the Parent Support Group was established for the first time ever at KIS at the beginning of 2018. The purpose was to organise/support fundraising events to help with making improvements to the learning environment of all the students at the school. Over the past two years the group has primarily been made up of parents of students – but we are always open to anyone in the local community that wants to support the school, to be part of the group.

We kicked off 2018 with the colour fun run which was a huge success and then supported the teachers with hosting the school social. With funds raised, we assisted the school with the purchase of a large amount of robotics equipment, new Kapa Haka uniforms, as well as made monetary donations to the breakfast club and toward the expenses for the school social.

This year we worked alongside the teachers to hold the mighty walk, as well as assisting with the school social again and then just recently providing the catering for the Y8 formal. It has been a pleasure to be able to reinvest funds raised back into the school via a large donation toward the playground repairs and the purchase of a new laser cutter.

Many of the members of the group will be moving on next year due to children transitioning to high school. If you like the idea of being part of this fun group, then please contact Andrea Smith via andrea03smith@gmail.com

There is no expectation about the amount of time you give – just whatever you can – it all helps!  Also, please feel free to tell friends and family who are joining the school community in 2020 about this opportunity to be involved.

We wish you a safe and enjoyable holiday break.
