The Mighty Walk Update

We are all very excited for our school ‘Mighty Walk’ event next Thursday 16 May.  This means there is less than two weeks before our students collectively attempt to walk the length of New Zealand (and maybe back again).  Plans are well underway and it looks set to be a fun event for everyone.

Over 120 students have already started fundraising to upgrade our tired adventure playground so far, this is fantastic!  Remember, every little bit helps and the more people that get behind us to support with our fundraising, the better the result.

If anyone is having difficulties with the Everyday Hero set up, please get in touch with the support group as we are here to help with any issues. And, don’t forget to share your page when you set up your online account. If you cannot set up the Everyday Hero account, you are welcome to bring your fundraising money to the school office.

If you have already set up your Mighty Walk page, or are about to, please ensure it includes a surname and classroom. It will make it easier for us to allocate prizes.

Throughout the ‘Mighty Walk’ day we will  have a BBQ selling sausages and burgers to keep students fuelled – more information will follow about pre-ordering.  The Coffee Guy will also be onsite at Kensington, so you can grab your favourite hot drink to keep you warm.

We have been very fortunate to have had some fabulous prizes donated from the community so that we are able to reward some of our students with prizes. Some of the prizes up for grabs are:

–        Auckland Zoo family pass

–        Heads Up Adventure tickets

–        Bethels Uniform vouchers

–        Whangarei Aquatics Swim passes

–        Adventure Forest family passes

–        Harvey Norman vouchers

–        Glow in the Dark mini golf passes

We are also pleased to announce that Ritchies Transport Whangarei have generously sponsored our event. This will now mean that all students will be attending The Mighty Walk! There will be buses available back and forth to school with the last bus back to school at 2.30pm. Students walking after this time will be expected to be picked up from Kensington stadium. Teachers will be confirming plans for all classes as student safety is a priority.

Along with the parent support group and teaching staff, we have a small group of volunteers already, thank you so much! If there are other parents and whanau that are able to help, we need you! If you can spare an hour or two it will be gratefully appreciated, especially between the hours of 3-7pm.  This is mainly to help with supervision and jobs tidying up at the end of the day.  If you are able to help in any way, please contact Amelia ( or Andrea (

Thank you once again for your support to the school.

Good Luck fundraising.
