Indoor Bowls

We have had some expert tutors come in this week to teach some students how to play indoor bowls. Students were engaged, excited and competitive during their lessons. The tutors were impressed with the skill, improvements made and overall Channel K attitudes. We hope to pursue this further in the coming terms.

Our boys and girls cricket teams have been to Tauranga to represent Northland in the Northern Districts Cricket Tournament finals.

The boys team won their matches against Gisborne Intermediate and Pukekohe Intermediate. They played three other games against Berkley Intermediate, St Peter’s (Cambridge) and Tauranga Intermediate and lost against these three teams. These matches were closely fought, however it was not meant to be. The girls team lost their three matches. Their performances got better and better each game and ended up having a tight bowling and fielding performance. They were beaten by Morrinsville Intermediate, Gisborne Intermediate and Tauranga Intermediate. The boys and girls were in full spirit and put their heart and sole into all performances, so we cannot ask too much more from them.

Boys winners: Tauranga Intermediate. Runner up: St Peter’s

Girls winners: Morrinsville Intermediate. Runner up: Tauranga Intermediate

We sincerely thank the students and parents who were involved in this tournament, as well as the teachers and coaches who made this happen. All students were a credit to our school in regards to their attitude and sportsmanship qualities. We endeavour to be Northland champions in 2019 and return to the Northern Districts Tournament, in the hope of winning both competitions!

Due to low entry numbers, the doubles tennis tournament being held on Wednesday 7 March, has been postponed until later in the year.
