MRS JONES:
Mrs Jones is Room 10's new teacher for Term 1. She is a lovely, caring and a very Channel K person to everyone in the school. Mrs Jones is a tidy and organized person and she loves Room 10 to bits.


CAMP AT THE FARM:

Last week on Tuesday the 1st of March, Room 10 went to the Farm for our Camp. We all loved it and got really MESSY!. Room 10 were well behaved (most of the
time) and were very good for Mike and Ellen the owners of the Farm. There were four leaders there, two from England and two from America. Robyn from Louisiana (America) kayaked me from the bush to the camp which took a whole long hour.

LUNCHTIME SPORTS:

Today Tawa is playing Cricket against Rimu, Good luck to both teams. Earlier this Term the lunchtime sports were Tug o war and Scatterball. They are really fun to play and are good team work games.


CAMP:

Room 10 went to the Farm for Camp. It was a long drive up to Whangaruru. Our class stayed in the house while Room 8 stayed in the Woolshed. At the Farm we meet Luke and Robyn who ran all the activities and Mike and Ellen the owners of the Farm. Luke is from England and Robyn is from Louisiana, America. It was a lot of fun and Room 10  loved it to bits.

READING COMPETITION:
The Reading Competition is coming up fast. And all the KIS kids are practicing and practicing heaps for it. The Reading Competition is really fun and you have a chance to get out there and read.

KAPA HAKA:
Kapa Haka is started up again for Term 2. There are around 58 people so it was a good turn out. Kapa Haka is really fun and a good way to earn a stripe.

AFL KICKS:
Tawa has had AFL for 2 weeks now. It is a fun game and you learn heaps of skills.  Today we did Hand Ball and played Hand Ball bullrush. It was awesome.

GOAL SHOOTING RELAY:

Today Room 10 are doing the Goal Shooting Relay with all the
 other second ranked teams from each syndicate. The sports are Basketball,
Netball, Hockey, Rugby, Soccer and Frisbee. It is alot of fun.


WINTER SPORTS DAY:

This Thursday is Winter Sports Day. Khaarla is doing soccer and Gemma is doing Rippa Rugby. The sports are Rugby, Hockey, Netball, Table Tennis, Basketball, Rippa Rugby and Soccer.

Stage Challenge:

On Thursday night the 16th of June, the Stage Challenge crew and performers did a variety performance in front of the Parents and Children. It was very cool and the extra acts were really fun. There were Dances, Gymnasts, Singers and heaps more really cool acts. The main stage challenge performance was really cool because everything was glowing. This Friday the 24th of June is the actual Stage Challenge at Forum North where we're competing against other school's around Northland.


Lunchtime Sports: Soccer


These few couple of weeks our lunchtime sport has been soccer.
Rm 10 lost there first game against Room 15 by a shoot off. We also lost in the plate against Room 3. Soccer is a fun sport and both Khaarla and I are in the team.

READING COMPETITION YEAR 8:

Last Friday the 1st of July was the Year 8 Reading Competition. Our Tawa finalist was Bailey from Room 14. The winner was Vanamali from Room 9 and second place was Laura from Nikau C. The Year 7 Reading Competiton final is this Friday the 8th of July.

NETBALL:

Netball is our new Syndicate Sport for the last couple of weeks for Term 2. Room 10 hasn't played yet but Room 14 has and they won 2-1. Good Luck to Room 10.


DEBATING:

Today the 5th of July  the whole school is going to watch Tawa and Rimu battle it out to debate about International Sport, is it only for the wealthy. So good luck to our 3 speakers Jordy, Tahlia and Chanell.

SPEECHES:    

This week on Friday 16th of September is the Year  8 Speech Finals.  Then on Friday the 23rd is the Year 7 Finals. Room 10 are presenting  their speeches this week. We have a speech roster so you know what day you are on. I was on Monday and Khaarla is on Friday.

ROADSHOW:

The Roadshow is coming up fast and the Auditions have already finished. On Monday the 3rd of October the Roadshow starts and then the Big finale is on Thursday the 6th of October.

INTENSIVES:

Intensives is being held on the second week of Term 4. KIS kids have got their intensives form and are picking there choices.

Capture the Flag

On the 15th November Tawa won Capture the Flag against Rimu. Gemma and I were not in the team, but we cheered from the sidelines. On the last game the score was really tight.


Matapihi Specialists Exhibition


On the 24th November Room 10 went into the hall to look at Kamo Intermediates students work Room 10 were split up into three groups, with three things to do: making boxes with Ms.Nisbet, exploring the hall and thinking of fonts and words for Ms.de Bruin to put on fabric.


Athletics/Field Events

At the start of Term 4 Tawa started trying out in relays. The Field Events were, shot-put, high jump, long jump and discus. Other sports that were happening  were 100 meter sprint, 200 meter sprint, 800 meter sprints and relays.
