Specialist Classes3 of May 2011Hi everyone
Last term we did Nutrition and Textiles for our Specialists, in textiles with Ms De Bruin the Yr7's were making pencil cases while the Yr8's were doing roll-up board games.
In Nutrition with Mrs Nisbet and Mrs Taylor they were teaching us to make heaps of delicious food like savoury pasta, butterfly cakes, pizza and even sushi!
Congratulation to Sharnaye, Caleb, Layla, Tayla, Anton and even our amazing Webslinger Keely for getting Nutrition stripes. We still are eager to find out who will get the Textiles stripes from Ms De Bruin.
But this Thursday we will be changing to...

Hi everyone,
Last week Mr Brown in Room 5 organised the K.I.S goal shooting relays, some of the sports included are basketball, netball, hockey, rugby, frisbee and soccer.
So far Room 17 has played two relays. In the first relay which was the Rimu syndicate ranking race, we came second. In our second race which was against all the second ranked classes we came fifth, but Ellen got a goal on her first go at basketball.

Winter sports20th June 2011Hey again.
On the 2nd of June the whole school took part in a winter sports day at Kensington stadium. There were HEAPS of different sports to choose from like soccer, netball, hockey, basketball, table tennis, ripper rugby and rugby.
Of course K.I.S wasn't the only team taking part, there was Huanui College, Pompellier, W.I.S and heaps more. Overall we had a great day, apart from the rain half way through, but it still didn't stop us! It was very fun and the year sevens can't wait until next year to do it all over again.
At the moment Rimu has started science and Maori rotations. For science we are making hokey pokey, Oobleck, ice cream and sherbet. For the Maori rotations we are in different groups and Keely's group has started making Maori designs and Ellen's group has started making Maori dolls.

Rimu Science Rotation4th of July 2011Kia ora
A few weeks ago Rimu started their syndicate science rotation.
In Mr Blithe's class we made sherbet and we had to taste each ingredient separately, YUCK!
In Miss Nelley's class we made oobleck, but we had to be careful that we didn't put to much water in or it would go to runny and go everywhere.
In Mrs Smith class we made ice cream, although some people got salt through their ice cream.
Finally in Mrs Hudspith's class we made hokey Pokey. Ours turned out alright but other class' got burnt!
But overall we had a great couple of weeks and learnt heaps of new things and are very sad that it's over.

Reading comp23 August 2011
Last term K.I.S had their Annual Reading Competition, there was some fierce competition but of coarse there could only be one winner. The Year 8 finals were held first, we listened to Bailey from Tawa, Vanamli from Matai, our fantastic Layla from Rimu, Laura from Nikau and Kelly from Kowhai. They did really well but Vanamali took out the champion stripe, with Laura coming second.
Then it was the year 7s turn. First up there was Bella from Kowhai, Then Maria from Matai, Tahlia from Tawa, Geneva from Nikau and finally our amazing Keely from Rimu. All of the Year 7s also did really well but Keely won overall with Geneva coming second. Also I thought our class did particularly well considering we had Keely and Layla in the finals and Keely actually winning.

Bernina Fashion awards13 of September 2011One of our teachers Hayley Clark organized an extension where we get to create our own wearable art outfits and enter it into the Bernina Fashion Awards.
On Thursday the 18th of August everybody had to walk their outfit down the catwalk in front of a big audience, it was so fun. Ellen made a giant flying clock outfit and Keely made a tropical bird dress, we also had other entries from Room 17 as well. It was a long and fun night with heaps of prizes.
Sadly me and Ellen did not win anything but there were heaps of other winners from K.I.S like Renee Room 18, James Room 6, Megan Room 8, Sarah Room 15, Lucy NB, Amy Room 10, Kahurangi Room 16, Kayla Rm 5, Kate Room 7, Grace Room 18, India Room 9 and even our velvet Long Finned Eel and Flexi Eels from Stage Challenge. So as you can Kamo Intermediate was very successful and we can't wait to do it next year!

Roadshow28th of November 2011Kia ora, welcome to Room 17s latest blog.
A few weeks ago was the K.I.S Roadshow where many students from our school went and preformed their amazing talents to primary schools around Whangarei, we even had some people from our class. Blake, singing in the gleeks group and me Keely drumming in a tribal drums group.
There were many awesome performances like singing, dancing, musical performances and even marching. Also on the finale night some of the teachers from K.I.S did a dance themed on the Rugby World Cup.
Overall it was a great tour, some of the teaches from other schools even said it was one of the best Roadshows they've seen so well done K.I.S, well done!
