Lunchtime Sports - Scatterball

We dashed onto the battle ground, ready to defeat the opposition. Our first player walks into the hoop. They throw the tennis balls in three different directions and bolts to the small, orange cone. Again and again our score gets higher and we can hear our enthusiastic teammates cheering us on. Eventually the final score is announced. YAY! We walk away with victory.

Camp 2009

At the start of Week 5 Term 1 we (Room 17) went to camp at Tangihua Lodge. We had a brilliant time on the challenge course and facing our fears on the breath taking, heart stopping, eye popping flying fox. We also did “mission impossible” activities such as  making a stretcher out of  bamboo and rope, getting people through the electrical spider web and a lot of other fun activities.
Our class split into 4 awesome teams. The Tangihua Taniwhas (blue team), The Pink Hot Chilli Peppers (pink team), Stormez (green team) and the Lightning Cobras (yellow team). The Tangihua Taniwhas came home with victory, taking out the competition. Well done!!

WINTER SPORTS

On Friday 22nd May the school went to Kensington Sports park. For Winter Sports Mary went to netball and Shanae went to hockey. We had an awesome time playing our favourite sports. Mary's team won ALL of there games, 10 games, 10 victory's you cant get much better then that!! I (Shanae) played 6 games and won 4 of them. Winter Sports was awesome!!

Paihia Fun Run

Every year, Mr. Epskamp takes a bus load of kids to Paihia for the fun run. We had to get up really early because the bus left at 7.30a.m. It is great fun and there is lots of prizes to be won.You can choose to do the 8k run or the 6k walk.

Kis Social/Black Sticks

On Thursday 2nd of July at 6:30 p.m the first social is going to be held. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO WEAR? Is it skinny jeans or maybe a skirt? Is it black, is it blue or maybe something new? WE JUST DON'T KNOW!!

On Friday, Mary and I might be going to see the Black Sticks play at Kensington Park on Water two. There are going to be 6 ex-Kamo Intermediate pupils playing! WOW!!!

Science Fair

We had the KIS science fair last week. Everyone put a lot of effort into their science project especially us. We will find out the winners on Wednesday. The top 20 will go to the inter-school science fair at Forum North. Good luck to those people.

Goal Relay

11/08/09

Today at lunchtime some of room 17 versed the rest of Rimu in the goal relay competition for lunchtime sports.
There were: 4 basketball shooters who were, Mihi, Troy, Baylan and Kane
4 netball shooters who were Yana, Tayla, Sharon and Mary
2 hockey shooters which were Rachael and Shanae
1 rugby kicker who was Dylan B and 1 rugby try scorer who was Joel
2 soccer shooters who were Sam and Hayley then we all ran to the end
We came SECOND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Cross Country

On friday 28th August most of the school participated in the KIS cross country. Shanae came 20th and I came 27th!! yay!!!  These are the people who came first in each race:  Katrina Rm 6, Bridget Rm 15, Cam Rm 7 and Josh Rm 8.
The best placings we had in our class was Sophie and Rakaya, who both got 9th place in their races. Each person who finished the race got 2 points for there syndicate. Also first got 22 points and 2nd got 21 points.

Roadshow

On Monday 15th September, the K.I.S roadshow starts. Only one person from our class made it into it, which was Yana. She is singing. There are lots of acts including dancing, singing, cheerleeding and some musical instruments.
This year our M.C' s will be puppets. Also this years theme is climb your mountain. We hope everyone enjoys the road show and good look to the people participating

Pacific Island Tour 2009

On Saturday 24th October at 2:30 in the morning a group of K.I.S students are leaving to the Auckland airport and going to VANUATU !! (including Shanae!!) but not Mary. But next year I will be there...YAY!!!  
We are fying on Air Vanuatu...They wear flowers in there hair, they have T.Vs on the back of seats and LOTS more! Lately the pacific island students have been practicing singing, making diarys and doing activities for vanuatu........they look awesome especially mine!
When we are over in Vanuatu, we will be visiting some local schools and singing to them, swapping gifts and having fun!!
We are going to have an AWESOME time!!!!
