Room 16 Camp 2009

On the first term in Week 5, we (Room 16) went on an awesome camp at "The Farm". We did 4 awesome activities and enjoyed them all. Such as Kayaking, Horse-Riding, Motor-biking and rafting. When we did the Rafting we did an Ultimate Challenge of Time!!! Yes, We failed at a time of 17.5 Minutes! (That's bad enough, don't talk about it). The best time was 12.5 Minutes, Well done guys!

Our class was divided into 4 teams, Naughty Ngapuhi's (Red) Yellow Pages (Yellow obviously), The Warriors (Purple) and Green Peace (Green).
We did a Creepy Challenge of Fear-Factor with many gross and yummy things to eat/drink. (Dreiyas): I took out First Place with the Maple Syrup and Chocolate Eggs, Haha, Mrs. T!
(Dayna): I won my challenge of eating a marshmallow fish.

Year 7 Reading Comp and Winter Sports

Representing Rimu was Dayna.
Representing Matai was Ella-Rose.
Representing Tawa was Parth
Representing Kowhai was [Cannot be named because of Cyber-Safety and the rules because its just to cool].
And representing Nikau was Laura

The decision was extremely difficult and the results were devastating for most but not all. Runner up was Parth from Tawa and the winner was Laura from Nikau. Well done everyone who competed, can't wait until the next competition-debating.


Winter Sport 22-05-09

Winter Sports is a great inter-school tournament held at the Kensington Park and the Hockey Turfs.

The sports included  Soccer, Netball, Rippa Rugby, Hockey, Basketball, Table-tennis, Rugby League and rugby.
Dreiyas saw a lot of his old friends from his old school and said Hi, :).
(me) Dayna  did netball and won every game...                                        except one.

Soccer, Not our best sport in our class probably our worst so far.
Our first EPIC battle was against Tawa, room 14, (The future champions). It was hard throughout the entire game. The end result of score was 3-0! WOO!! ... Epic Fail.

Game 2
Game 2, we played against Matai and won. Shaan got the one and only goal making us the winner of the match! :D Now we go to the next game against Nikau.

Game three
Playing Nikau was tough, the ball went up and down the field  most of the time until suddenly they scored the only goal of the game. It was devastating to our class even some boys were crying (real tears).

Oh well, its Ok because Rimu got 3rd=


Tomorrow we have debating and I'm in the Rimu team!!

Science Fair

The Science Fair was all last term, everyone in Rimu had to do it.  Now in term Three its open to the public. In our hall is where many of the exhibits are being displayed until Friday morning. Unfortunately  some of room sixteen's great  Science Fair Exhibits never got through to being displayed but they were amazing anyway.

School Debating Finals Rimu vs Tawa

Friday the 24th of July was the day, it was time to stand up in front of the entire school and debate.  The mote: "The media should Be Banned From Publishing Private Information about the Private Lives Of Public Figures" Rimu The affirmative team and Tawa The Negative team.

The Rimu Team:

3rd Speaker: Hannah

The Tawa Team:
1st & Last Speaker: Brooke
2nd Speaker: Nakeysha
3rd Speaker: Parth
 
An intense competition but in the end............

Yes!!!! Friday was the end of our Kiwiana Contract and we wanted to finish it with a big BANG!!!
Many `Kiwiana' themed events to help with going out with a big BANG!!

In the morning there was...
~Bag Making Challenge where you had to make a bag out of just 10 pieces of paper and 10 paperclips.
~A scavenger hunt where you had to find questions and answer them in order to finish in the correct place  

At lunch we had an awesome share lunch for the entire Rimu syndicate (each class had to bring there own food but everyone took food off of our table because ours was the best)

In the Afternoon

~Trout Fishing in a PaknSave trolley with a bamboo fishing rod
~ Sheep in the sheppard (you get blind folded and the people who are the sheppard call the people who are the sheep)
~Jaffa and the spoon
~Gumboot throw

And to make our afternoon even better we had A FEAR FACTOR challenge. Some of the food we had to eat was...

~dry weetbix
~COLD spaghetti
~mussels
~oysters
~Toast smothered in marmite
~pickled Onions
~Tuna

That wasn't as bad as it was on Camp.

Debate K.I.S vs Whg Heads

On the 5th September, the K.I.S debating team traveled out to Whangarei Heads where they battled their amazing OVER THE TOP Whg Heads team.

The moot was WE ARE TOO PREOCCUPIED ABOUT THE WAY WE LOOK!

We fought long and hard an in the end we WON! (well we thought we did ) So we jumped in the car ready to go and we looked at the score sheet. The judge had mucked up the score sheet, missed a high score and added the points up incorrectly.  So in the end we had lost.
