Term 210:5:11Its already the start of term 2.
Last term we went to the Farm for camp and Nikau C loved it. The high lights were probably going motor biking and horse riding for me and the worst part probably and i speak for everyone here (especially the girls) was milking the cows!! YUCK!!!
Our new lunch time sport we are doing is goal shooting and of course Nikau will win.
We have also started Reading Comp...FREAKY! But I guess everyone has to do it. So far Nikau C has finished listening to the year 8s and is starting to listen to the year 7s and I'm sure Mrs Procter is going to have a hard time choosing the people to read in front of the syndicate.

Reading Comp, Goal Shooting, Specialists and Hockey.24:5:11
Hi everybody, Nikau C are doing their new specialists which are Design Tech and Hard Materials.
Also Nikau is starting goal shooting today and have their X-Team sorted out. We are ready to go!
Madi plays for the K.I.S First 11. On the weekend they had the Shepards trophy tournament. We played against Bream Bay, The K.I.S Black team, Ruatangata and Mangapai in the final. We lost on strokes 2-1.
We now know who our Reading Comp finalists are. The year 8 person is Laura. C and the year 7 person is Geneva. O. So good luck to those finalists!

Winter Sports, Language Festival and Inter Association Hockey.13:6:11Hi everyone,
On the 2nd of June we had Winter Sports. Winter Sports is when most of the schools in Whangarei go to Kensington Park and the students pick a sport to play for the day. I played soccer and we lost every game except one, but we had so much fun! We made new friends and learnt about teamwork.
On Wednesday 8th of June, Kamo High had their Language Festival. We learnt about all different languages and countries. In the French section they drew mustaches on your fingers, had a piece of string with pretzels tied on that you had to bite off and loads more. In the Spanish section there was a match up game with food, there were hand games and songs. In the Brazil section you learnt about soccer. In the Chinese, Japanese, and Korean they wrote your names in their language.
Yesterday the 12th of June, there was the Inter Association for hockey. I was in the Whangarei North team and we won all our games. We also won the cup. There were heaps of K.I.S students in both teams. Everyone had heaps of fun and all enjoyed it.

Stage Challenge and Soccer.27:6:11
Hi every body,
Kamo Intermediate did their stage challenge on Friday and theirs was about the long finned eel. They all tried very hard and came second to Girls High School which we think is really cool.
Nikau A came second for soccer in the championship and Nikau B won the plate which will get us good syndicate points which will lead us to winning the inter syndicate cup. Nikau B won 1-0 and Nikau A lost 2-1.

11:7:11Reading Competition, Science Fair, ContractsHi everyone,
We had the Reading comp finals and Laura and Geneva both came second. Well done to both of these girls they rocked! :P
Nikau's science fair boards are due in on Friday so all the classes are going mad! Hopefully all of Nikau will all get their boards done. I wonder if any Nikau Students will get any placings?
At the moment we have heaps of contract work like maths and writing on top of science fair. Heaps of people are behind and they are due in this week! AHHHH!!!

Netball, Cross Country, Speech Competition, Science Fair.8:8:11Nikau B played Room 9 in the Netball Plate Final. Both teams played really well and made it hard for each other but Nikau B pulled away and secured the win.
Cross Country is coming up. Nikau is training hard to win Cross Country and get more syndicate points.
Another event coming up is Speech Competition and Nikau C is practicing writing our speeches and reading them out to the class.
All Science Fair boards were on display in the hall and looked awesome. The prize winners are announced at assembly this week.

Nikau C Specialists, Cross Country, Vanuatu, AIMS Games22:08:11Hi everyone,
NIkau C has finished doing Design Technology and Hard Materials and now has started doing Art and Music and are having heaps of fun. For art the year 7s are learning how to blend and use pastels. The year 8s are learning about the colour wheel and later on are doing some clay work.
Cross Country is on Friday and Nikau is training very hard practicing the course and definitely going to win.
Some of the Nikau C year 8s are going to Vanuatu in two weeks (10th September) and we are very excited. We have learnt some of the language and currency and are staying in Hideaway Island Resort for some of our time in Vanuatu. Some of the cool things are going to the underwater post office, Snorkeling, Going to the Marine Reserve, More snorkeling and…… HEAPS OF SHOPPING!!!
AIMS Games is in a week. We are so ecstatic. This year KIS is taking two swimmers and two gymnasts as well as the first eleven hockey team. The hockey team are staying in Belle Mer. We have to do Hot and Colds. Everyone is going to have so much fun.

Over Seas Trip, Speech Finalists, Road Show.19:09:11The first Vanuatu group have returned to New Zealand.
We left on Saturday the 10th at 5:00 in the morning and came back on Saturday the 17th at 4:30 in the afternoon. We had an amazing time going snorkeling, swimming and relaxing.
Bella says the best thing that happened was swimming in Tranquility Island and going to the primary schools. The thing that she's learnt is that always be grateful for what your given because in Vanuatu they're extremely grateful but have pretty much nothing.
The Speech finalists have been chosen for Nikau C…The year 8s are Alex B, Eden S, Samuel H and Bella M and the year 7s are Sophie G-K, Billie S and Olivia M. Who's going to win?
RoadShow is coming up in a couple of weeks. There are Dancers, Singers, Plays, musicians and heaps more. I think this ones going to be the best one yet with our new theme which is…Channel K! This theme will show all the primary students that with Channel K you can go a long way.

Intensives & Athletics :D :P08:11:11
Hi everyone,
We have just had intensives and had a lot of fun! Some of the choices were Sports till you drop, Paint ball, Pyramid pouch, Screen printing and heaps more.
One thing that Bella and Madi did was kindy mural which is when you paint a mural for Kamo Kindy (pretty obvious!) Our theme was bugs because little kids LOVE bugs. We had butterflies, caterpillars, lady bugs , snails and every kind of bug you can imagine!!
Madis and Bellas favourite intensive was kindy mural because we are very arty people who love to paint so that intensive was perfect for us.
Yesterday at lunch we ran the 800 metre sprints Nikau did very well with Madi coming first in the year seven girls, Karl coming second in the year 7 boys and the are both from Nikau C!!!
Im sure Mrs Procter is very proud.
