Lonsdale Park Camp 2009

11.05.09

All first term the whole class had been waiting for this day to arrive.
It was week 8 and we were going to camp.

Everyone was pumping to go to Lonsdale park we did a whole lot of fun activities including Surfing, Sailing, Quiz night, Burma trail, Animal survival and a whole lot more.

But the one thing that everyone was talking about happened on the first night at approximately 9:20 Pm. The night was pitch black and peaceful UNTIL...Room 6 approached the night. With screams and squeals Room 6 had made their mark. We were playing spotlight with a twist, in the pine trees and our mission was to retrieve a glow stick. As peeping children searched for cover by hiding behind trees. But for one girl it turned out to be a person.

WINTER SPORTS

26.05.09

This year Kamo intermediate participated in the 2009 Winter Sports day.  There were a range of sports to play such as netball, hockey, rugby, soccer, table tennis and much more. There was over 600 kids from K.I.S so imagine how many kids were at Kensington park out of ALL of the intermediate schools in of Whangarei.  Not all of our teams won all the games but we tried our best and the main point was having fun (and getting out of school). There were canteens and sausage sizzles to keep kids going! In the end it was a fun energetic day. Can't wait till next year!

Paihia fun run

10.6.09

Having to get up at 6:45 isn't what you want to do on a sunday morning. I can think of many different ways to spend it anyway. The bus arrived at 7:30 and we were off at 8:00.Paihia was not ready when K.I.S came out of that bus or we could say K.I.S was not ready for the Paihia fun run. Mr Epskamp had put us all in for the 8K run and put himself in for the 6K walk, talk about not very fair .We all made it to the finish in the end with tried bodies and feet dragging K.I.S set out for the food shops. Fish 'N' chips was the ideal lunch after a long run, but with that hot food we needed a cold food and what better than and ice-block to finish off the day. With tummies fed we were back on the bus and making our way back.

Our class room six has started studying Pasifika. We have been making Tivaevae pattens with paper and material. We were suppose to make sure our Tivaevae didn't  look like snowflakes. Everyone put great effort into making them but there always has to be a huge mess at the end of the lesson. We always take care of that.

Roadshow 2009

24.11.09

The Roadshow was awesome! It was really cool being able to take part in performing in the Roadshow! The best part was visiting all the primary schools!
Performing in front of the whole school was probably the hardest, when you perform in front of your friends, you cant help but get butterflies in your tummy! We got really good feedback. Totara Grove primary school was the best audience. They sung along to every song, and even did a haka for us. They really appreciated us for coming along and performing for them. It was inspiring for all the kids. The Roadshow was loads of fun!

High jump

24.11.09

High jump was a pretty tough competition! There were 14 year 7 girls, but we all knew there could only be 1 winner. Tawa was first The starting height was 1 metre. Unfortunately Nikau went out on the first jump. It was my turn after Rimu. I could hear my friends cheering. I breathed in. In the end it was me (Ellie) and three Rimu girls. This was going to be tough. The last two were me and Maddison. She went first and hit the bar. oh oh. It was 1 metre 28. I sprinted towards the bar ready to jump. JUMP! made it. Maddison tried and tried but just couldn't make it. I won!
