Winter Sports

7/6/2011

On Thursday it was Winter Sports day.

Winter Sports is a sports event where different schools e.g Kamo intermediate, Whangerei intermediate, Matarau and some other schools get together at Kensington and play sports against each other. We played sports like rugby union, ripper rugby, netball, hockey, basketball, table tennis and soccer.

I played rugby. There were 6 teams, half for the smaller players and half for the bigger players. I was in the bigger team, we had 3 games. First we played Matarau. They were extremely hard, we held out till halftime, but we lost it towards the end so they beat us. Next we played WIS. That was hard too. It was a good game but they won.

Then we had our lunch break which lasted about 30 minutes. Then we had our last game my team was psyched for a last game win against Tauraroa Area school. It was a good game and we were happy to win at least one game.

At 2:30 we headed back to school on the bus. Winter Sports day ended up to be a great day and a cool opportunity to play against other schools.

Room18 soccer

14/6/11

On Tuesday the 7th of June, Room 18 had their first soccer game

We were playing Nikau B we really wanted to win so they didn't get any more points for there syndicate in the team the people were Ben, Amy, Matt, Rebeca, Tennille, Bradley, Cole, Nick ,Zane Brooke and a few others.

In the first half they were a challenging side, but Zane our awesome kicker scored the first  goal. I was the goalie and i managed to save all their shots at goal.

The second half was even more exciting. We had one shot at goal but their goalie managed to keep it out.  Then their team had the final attack in the last minutes but didn't score so we ended up winning the match one nil.

We were ecstatic to win against Nikau, upping our chance to win the final cup.

Soccer Blog 2

28/6/2011

Tuesday last week Room 18 played Nikau A in  the soccer champion ship semi final. It was a challenging game. At first both teams started off well. Room 18 just about scored  the first goal, but it just missed. It looked like we had the upper hand.

But then the second half  came with no score until Nikau A's excellent corner taker kicked it into the goal box and then they put it in.

So then Nikau A was one nil up and then Room 18 had an plan of attack, everyone go up. It was really intense but they unfortunately managed to stop us from scoring a much wanted goal so they ended up beating us. >:(

Science Fair

Tuesday 9th of August 2011

Last week, On the 1st of August we had our school Science Fair over the holidays Room 18 was working hard like many other young kids in our syndicate. The categories in the Science Fair were Technology, Research, Investigation and Action Research.

Many people in Room 18 did research, I was one of the few who did a technology project. We all knew the Science Fair was creeping up on us, but when the day arrived a few people didn't  finish in time.

When we put our Science Fair projects in the hall, we were all left wondering who would get into the Regional Science Fair. We were going crazy, until Friday when they said over the speakers who got in from our class, And it was Grace, Brooke, Rebeca and Darrelle. Great job guys:D

W.I.S K.I.S challenge.

23/8/2011

On friday the 19th of August we had the W.I.S K.I.S challenge. I played rugby and We traveled down to  W.I.S to play. When we got  there we warmed up and then shortly after we were going to kick off. W.I.S had some massive dudes, one guy was as big as our principal. The first try was by W.I.S then shortly after that we scored a cool try, we thought that we had it in the bag, but W.I.S scored lots of try and it wasn't much different in the second half, so W.I.S ended up beating us 41 points to 5.

After the game, we hopped on the bus and went back to school to discover that we had lost the shield and were very disappointed. We had only won 2 sports which were boys soccer and girls hockey and W.I.S had won the rest. O well theres always next year.

Lately K.I.S has had the Turbo Touch World Cup. Turbo Touch is a great athletic game, it's fun and sporty. We play 32 games, each class gets a Rugby World Cup country except for Australia or New Zealand. My class is the awesome Scotland. So far we are undefeated. First we played Italy (Room 9). we beat them 2-1. it was a hard game.

Next we played France (Nikau A). it was a challenging match we we ended up on top beating them 2-1.

Thirdly we played England (Room 5). It was a very hard game in the boiling heat. We got the better of them and won 3-2. We were very happy that we won because now we are practicing hard for the next game and its a great result for our Team.

Hopefully we keep winning and Scotland wins the Turbo Touch World Cup.

Kis Intensives 2011

7/11/11

As a year 7, Intensives for the first time was a great experience. On the 1st Day I had Badminton with Miss Morgan which was very energetic. We played competitions, which I didn't win, but I gave it a go. I also made some new friends while doing it.

On the 2nd Day I had Adventures in Aotearoa with Miss Plesky  exploring indian ink and pastel. It was a lot of fun even though it took me awhile. It was a struggle trying to decide on what to draw. I finally found something I was happy with, but my biggest challenge was the Indian ink because I had thick lines and thin lines, which looked horrible. In the end I fixed it and it looked great.

The 3rd Day had crept up on me and it was finally time to go to my final intensive Noyz Faktori with Mr Hughes we spent the day doing whatever we wanted to do. so I watched Twilight for the first time ever. it was really interesting. I also played on the drums, listened to music, searched on youtube and had chips for lunch. all in all it was a really fantastic day. Noyz Faktori was by far my favorite Intensive for 2011 I wonder what 2012 has in store for me.

K.I.S intensives 2o11

7/11/11

On the first day of K.I.S 2011 intensives i had paintballing with Miss Nelley  and Mr Blithe. I was in a group of about 40 people. We travelled on a bus to A.E fun park out at Maungakaramea we left at about 9:30. It took about half an hour, when we got there we sorted out the groups. Once we were in our groups one group went to play laser tag down the hill from where the paintball was. My group played laser tag first. It was better then normal laser tag instead of having heaps of places where you would get tagged there was just a hopper on the gun and the gun sounded like a real paintball gun.

After about 20 minutes we played the real thing it was great ,adrenaline rushing through me. It lasted a whole hour and a half and before i knew it the day was over.  We had to head back to the bus. That was a great highlight of my last intensives at K.I.S.
