Camp stuff and Turtles

5/4/11

Hello and welcome to Room 6's first blog for 2011.

The year started off great because we were happy and healthy after the holidays, but we were sticking with our friends from last year. After a fabulous camp at The Farm we  merged together and became friends. At the farm we enjoyed the company of The Farm crew. They were great and enthusiastic. We also enjoyed N.Z first Gaga Pit, a game that is enjoyed by kids all over America.

Now that we are back from The Farm all is well and happy but on a sadder note, Room 6's turtle Muska died. He got a big shock when he was getting taken out of the freezer (hibernation), it was to light and it gave him a fright. But we now have a new turtle named Horris which is lucky for Myrtle (our other turtle) because she was so upset she wasn't eating. But now she is happy with her new turtle friend Horris.

Four Square and Science Fair :P

17/5/2011

Hello and welcome to our third blog.

Room 6 has a new student teacher her name is Whaea Dee and she will be with us for the next 5 weeks. So far it has been great to have a new face in our class.

The Four Square game obsession has hit our school hard. If you look outside our class room window all you can see is people running around or lining up to play Four Square. The competition has just started and sadly Room Six hasn't done well,.

Along with the Four Square competition the goal shooting tournament is just starting up, i don't want to give the competition away but so far Matai is in pretty good shape.

The work for Science Fair is now under way and room 6 is also doing Science Inquiry's we're learning all about inventions.

And remember there's still time to bring in your 40 hour famine notices but the quicker the better because you will get more time to fundraise.

Thats all for now

Class money and Speeches

12-9-11

Hello and welcome to Room 6's 8th blog of the year.

As most of us will know the Rugby World Cup started on Friday and in light of this we were given countries.  Room 6 drew out Wales, who by the way SHOULD have won their game against South Africa, but didn't.

Speeches have started up and from today we have finished our country speeches (we all had to draw one of the countries in the Rugby World Cup out of a hat then do a speech on that country). The year 8's have their formal speeches tomorrow so don't forget!!!!.

In other class news Ms Arms has started giving out 'classroom money'. The way it works is, every time we get our homework finished or help someone out or stuff like that, Ms Arms will give us 'classroom money'. We get money deducted from our funds if we do something bad. Then at the end of the term Ms Arms will buy some things to auction off (with her own money might I add) as a reward for our good behavior.

Debating has just started in our class there are 6 teams all fighting to win their arguments. The moots are 'whaling should be banned', 'some types of drugs should be allowed in professional sports' and 'it shouldn't be mandatory to wear uniforms in school'. Good luck guys!.

That's all for now.

The Final blog :(

29-11-11

Hello and welcome to room 6's 10th and sadly last blog of the year.

This is the first blog I've had to do in a long time and in that time ALOT has happened.

Well in the first week of this term I was of in Samoa on the beach with the turtles while everyone else in my class was back in New Zealand doing maths :D.
It was very hot in Samoa, thats the basic way of describing the weather. It was really a great trip.

When I came back I found out that our OTHER original turtle (original meaning from last year) had died, because he had eaten a prawn tail, gotten sick, and… well died. So now Horris the turtle is all on his lonesome in the big world of the turtle tank.

We also have just recently had the X-factor Talent Quest which I ALSO missed as I was in Wellington. By the sounds of it there were LOTS of different winners from different categories so i won't name them all, we only had one child from our class who made it to the finals in our class which was Tanika who did some singing, AND came first in her category.

It also looks like our school has a new fad, with seemingly EVERYONE playing gutterball. I personally have no idea how to play so i wont try to explain it to you.

Another thing I missed was the Matapihi exhibition, which was a shame as i wanted to see that. Lots of kids from Room 6 had bits and bobs in this and i really cant name them all. But along with the exhibition came the Guest Speakers, which was heaps of people from different areas of the working field coming in to talk to kids about their professions.

In up-coming news the Social is on this Thursday so if you people want to have a good time be sure to pay the money in on time.

Well that is all for my final blog, thank you for reading.
