Super Sweet 16's First BlogMonday 7th March 2011Hi and welcome to Room 16's, wait up its Super Sweet 16's first blog for 2011.
Our teachers are Mrs O'Connor and Mrs Smith. Our Class Reps for this year are Christian and Kaitlin. Our Deputies are Claire and Louis.
Mrs O'Connor is an Environmental person. She loves teaching Super Sweet 16 about the environment. Mrs Smith is passionate about drama and loves doing ABL (Adventure Based Learning) with her class.
So far in this years Lunchtime Sport Competition we have won the Tug 'O' War Plate against our old class Room 5. In our next Lunchtime Competition we lost our first game of Scatterball against Room 14=(

Hi and welcome to Super Sweet 16's 2nd blog5th April 2011Two weeks ago we went to camp on The Farm.
We had an awesome time. We did lots of activities including Raft Building, Kayaking, Motorbiking and Horseriding. We also played a lot of indoor games like werewolf, fishbowl and if we were lucky a few minutes of TV!!! Out of all the things we could've done we watched TV!

Hello and Welcome to Super Sweet 16's 3rd Blog!Tuesday 3rd May 2011Its the start of Term 2 and we finished our specialists, Hard Materials and Design Tech. On Thursday we start our new specialists Art and Music.
We have just started a new topic, Weather. We are hoping to learn a lot about that.
We have a few upcoming events that a few kids are involved in. Theres the 40 Hour Famine and Winter Sports Day which is whole school event. Extensions also begin this term. i'm (Kaitlin) in Webslingers, of course and Wearable Art and me (Summer) is in Webslingers, of course and Film. We're looking forward to a great term.

Hello and Welcome to Super Sweet 16's 4th blog.Tuesday 17th May 2011
For the past 2 weeks we have been working on our Reading Comp and Science Fair. The Reading Comp is when you pick a section of a book and you read it for 5 minutes. Along with that we have been working on our Science Fair which we have got to finish for the 1st week of term 3.
Soon we are due to get our 500 class points. This is when we get to choose something to do out of school. For example, last year we went to the movies.
I , Summer, have been chosen out of some year 7's to have the opportunity to get into MathsEx. I am hoping I will get in!

Hi and Welcome to Super Sweet 16's 5th Blog31st May 2011We recently started the lunchtime sport, Goal Shooting Relay. Summer and I both participated. Summer did netball and I did frisbee. The first relay we did which was the rimu, syndicate one we came 4th, but the one we just did we came first=)
Our syndicate has just started a maths rotation. Its when different groups of kids go to different teachers. The groups are based on how well we did on the measurement test. We do it on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after morning tea.

Hello and Welcome to Super Sweet 16's 6th Blog20th June 2011We recently started the lunchtime sport, Soccer. We won our first game against Room 6. We are also playing today so wish us luck =)
In Rimu we're starting another rotation, a maori rotation. This involves four different groups going to the four different teachers and doing activities involving maori. We do this every Friday and rotate to another class every two weeks.
On the 2nd of June the whole school participated in the Winter Sports at Kensington Park. The sports that we played were rippa rugby, hockey, netball, rugby, basketball, table tennis and soccer. It was a successful day with alot of KIS teams coming out on top.

We have just recently finished our reading comp for Rimu. Layla in Room 17 got to represent us at the school final but unfortunately she didn't win.
Our Voki's are now finished. They are mini characters that can talk on the internet. We based ours on a book we're reading called the Hunger Games. We are also creating Zooburst pop-up books online based on The Hunger Games book.
On Friday we played netball against Room 8 and unfortunately we lost. That means we now competing for the plate.

Hello and welcome to Super Sweet 16's 8th Blog23 August 2011We recently finished the Life Ed program. It is held in a caravan which we attended 4 times last week. We all learnt all the dangers of drugs and alcohol.
For our topic this term, we are studying Pacifika. We all have to choose a country in the South Pacific to study and present in any way. Kaitlin has chosen New Caledonia and Summer has chosen Kiribati.
The Bernina Fashion Awards have just been and Me (Kaitlin) was in it. My outfit was a Merry-Go Round dress, but sadly I didn't win a prize. Kahurangi in our class got Highly Commended with her Elephant Dress. Chloe also did Bernina but unfourtunently didnt get a prize either.
Science Fair has just finished and a couple people in our class got a prize. Chloe got third place in Science Research and is going to the Regional Science Fair and Brittany got Highly Commended.
The Netball intermediate season has also just finished. Summers team (team 5) got 2nd place in their grade and My team (team 2) came 4th in grade 2. Summers team lost by 2 points against Tikipunga and my team lost by 1 against Pompellier. You can see more about netball at the Sports Page.

Welcome to Super Sweet 16s 9th Blog13th September 2011Roadshow is coming up and we are all preparing. I (Summer) am playing the violin by myself and with flutes and Kaitlin is taking part in 2 dancing acts. Many other girls in our class are also dancing but unfortunately no boys are participating.
We are also performing Stage Challenge for the Festivals of Lights again. I (Summer) and Kahu are performing in this and look forward to looking around at the other acts and activities.
The Girls and Year 8 boys won the rugby for Rimu (YAY!!!!!) While the year7 boys lost nearly every one of their games :(
Cross country has also been. I came 14th but missed out on going to Barge Park by one place:( Adam in our class came first in the year 8 boys, but didn't get to go to Barge park because he broke his collar bone. There were many other people in our class that did very good like Kaitlin who came 11th here and 16th at barge Park.
We have stared our new specialists which are Computers, Textiles and Design, and Nutrition (YUM!!!!!) As you can see, I love Nutrition because you get to eat food but Computers and Textiles and Design are pretty cool too.

Welcome to Super Sweet 16s 10th Blog28th November 2011A couple weeks ago we went on a class trip to Tiritiri Matangi. We went because we are studying birds. Unfortunately we did not get to see the islands icon, Greg the Takahe.
We have recently finished Athletics week. Our class did exceptionally well in getting to the Whangarei finals :)
We are now coming to an end with our specialists. We have only one more session at Textiles and Design, Nutrition and Computers.
The Matapihi Specialist Exhibition has finished. We enjoyed visiting it because there was a lot of beautiful artwork and creations. Some of the people in our class such as Kelly, Waylon, Kahurangi, Claire, Kaitlin and meee, Summer who typed up some of the names for the exhibition, were in it.
