PLANT IT FORWARD - TE  MAURI

Example - Follow this procedure

HISTORY
A follow on from our Islands of Life project in school- from planting native trees that provides food for native birds to a worm farm, veggie garden, ecopond and more!

WHATS HAPPENED SO FAR
152 schools from Cape Reinga to Auckland have been given three native trees each to provide food for native birds. Now we are encouraging YOU to help with this project.

PLANT IT FORWARD
- Is encouraging others to be proactive
- Is telling children to ask parents, neighbours etc to give a tree or plant a tree and pass that our native birds need more food
- Is a way of helping native birds, insects and trees

HOW IT’S DONE
- An area is chosen- it may include anything from 1-20 schools
- You could email them. We fax them. See attached fax as example
- Visit the school(s) if they want you to and give them native plants- Don’t worry about getting the plants, we can help you get access to sponsors in your area
-The next year email them asking if they want more trees and/or a presentation
- Visit the school again
-Have fun helping the environment

WE HOPE YOU PASS THE WORD- NATIVE BIRDS NEED NATIVE TREES!

PLEASE FAX 09 435 2447 OR EMAIL  plant_it_forward@yahoo.com for more information

To Whom It May Concern,

We are the Islands of Life Sponsorship team from Kamo Intermediate School, writing to you about our Islands of Life project. We are trying to bring back native birds to our school. We have planted hundreds of food bearing trees over the last few years. This project has many extensions, a worms farm, eco pond and more with ‘Plant it forward- Te Mauri’ being our latest project. You may have heard us on the radio, or read about us in the newspaper last year. ‘Plant it Forward- Te Mauri’ is our unique way of encouraging schools in Northland to have their own environmental projects.

Yours Sincerely,
Islands of Life Sponsorship Team
