INTRO TO ROOM 15 201021st April 2010
Welcome to our first blog for 2010! Fraser and Minsu will be your fellow blog writers for this year! Our teacher for this year is Mrs Hudspith, our class reps are Matt and Brooklyn and our deputies are Fraser (me!!!) and Rachael. I'm sure 2010 will be a great year!
Camp really kicked Rm 15 off to a great start. We went with Rm 10 to Marsden Bay Youth Camp. It was really cool, we Kayaked and there was a really cool water slide! Also thanks to Regans' mum as she bought the dish washing liquid to make it extra slippery and to make us go extra fast! The food was delicious especially the nachos and bacon and egg pie. We also watched the movie Holes, all the kids enjoyed it too. We stayed there for 5 days, even though we had heaps of fun we were all tired and it was a relief to get back home.

Rimu Is Winning!Tuesday 4th May
Rimu is finally in the lead! Thanks to all the Rimu cricket boys and Madisen for her awesome effort in reading comp. Rimu Year 8 and Year 7 Boys won the cup for the inter-syndicate Cricket competition! Kowhai is going hard out trying to get in the lead, as before Madisen won the Year 8 Reading Competition we were only ahead by 5 points! Let's just hope that we stay in the lead by winning inter-class soccer. So far, room 15 has won all their soccer games (2 out of 2) and all those games were very tight. we only just bet room 7 by 1 penalty kick and we thrashed room 3 2-0!

Winter Sports Tournament31/05/10
Last Friday heaps of schools around Whangarei went to the Winter Sports day at Kensington Park. One of the schools was Kamo Intermediate! Before the Winter Sports Tournament, you and your friends would chose a sport, then form a team of around 9 players. The sport selections were: netball
hockey
basketball
soccer
rugby league
rugby union
rippa rugby
K.I.S played really well in all the sports. Though the most popular sport was soccer, all of the other sports were played. Around 135 players participated in soccer from our school!

K.I.S Soccer World Cup15/6/10
The soccer world cup is finally here! We are Korea! Room 15 are really in to win it and we have made a lot of Korean flags for spectators to show how determined we are. We played our first game on Monday and the score was 5-3 to us! It was really intense with all the screaming and shouting. We played really well and no red or yellow cards were handed out.

Speeches19/10/10
Tuesday 19 October
Speeches
Speeches are here! Most people think OMG when they hear that, but you should hear the great speeches Room 15 have made. Every year speeches comes late in Term 3, which means every kid in the school has to present a 3 minute speech on anything. The speech Finalists (one year 8 and one year 7) from each class go to the Syndicate finals, then the winner of that goes into the school finals to compete against the other finalists (either year 8 or 7). It was really hard to choose, but the Room 15 Syndicate finalists were:
Year 8: Tyla & Fraser (away sick)
Year 7: Dylan and Phoebe
All speeches were great! Good luck to the school finalists from Rimu, hope you win!

Milo Cup FInals19/10/10
At the start of the year K.I.S had a game of cricket against W.I.S. It was a close game but we won. It was only then that we found out that game was for the quarter finals of the Milo Cup! On Sunday K.I.S had a new cricket team, which went down to the Waikato university in Hamilton. We played our first game against Berkley Intermediate, and we only just lost. Our next game was for the 3rd place play off against Gisborne. It was the last ball, and Gisborne needed one run to win the game! But sadly, they did it. Both games were so close, and we ended up coming 4th in the Milo Cup. The awesome team was:
Connor
Josh
Austyn
Fraser (me)
Matt
Matt P
Dione
Jayden
Ben
Christian
Charmodh
Tom
Dinidu
The team was great! Ahrlen couldn't play because he had kickboxing, and Minsu only just missed out! Thanks to the whole team.

K.I.S Has Talent and Food Court23/11/10Do you think you have what it takes? Do you think you have talent? Do you think you are going to be the winner of K.I.S Has Talent 2010? Well we'll see on Thursday 25th November.
K.I.S Has Talent is here. It's your time to show the school and maybe even the world, what you have that no one else has, or that no one can do as good as you. You could do magic tricks, dancing, singing, play an instrument, do a skit, stand-up comedian. A gold coin donation will be necessary to get into the hall. Every person will be able to vote on who they think the best performer is. It doesn't matter what you do.
On that night we're also having a Food Court on the, well... court. This will help fundraise for the school. I'll see you there!

Tiritiri Matangi23/11/10Last Friday Rm.15 and Rm.18 was lucky enough to go on a class trip to Tiritiri Matangi. Tiritiri Matangi is a wildlife bird sanctuary. They have 11 different species of translocated birds, plus loads more native birds and trees.
We left school at 7:00 a.m and arrived at Gulf Harbour, Auckland at 9:00. 360 (the ferry company) took us 4kms east of the Whangaparoa Peninsula. When we arrived we went for a tour around the island to see the different birds and trees. After we came back for lunch, we then headed back to Auckland.
To relax after a hard, long day we went to Waiwera Hot Pools. The slides were great fun and so were the pools. Finally we travelled back to Whangarei. We arrived back home at 8:30.

Softball23/11/10
Softball has started today, and Rm 15 once again is looking to take away another championship shield. We really need this as Kowhai is catching up to Rimu, and is only a few points away.
Softball is just about the same as baseball. You hit the ball, run around the bases and hope you get a home run. There are four bases you can run over, and it only counts if you make it the whole way round back to home. Rm 15 is lucky enough to have some great cricket players. Minsu, Matt, Regan and I all play for Kamo.
Soon our class will play our first game of softball. Watch out, here we come!

The Social30/11/10Hooray! The end of year social is here! Nearly the whole school will be going on Thursday to party hard. Everybody is really excited and can't wait. There will be a canteen there, with lots of drinks, lollies and other high-sugar foods! I guess there will be a Dj there which makes it extra cool. The social will start at 7:00 and will finish at 9:30.
We hope that everybody out there that attends the social will have a very good night.
