Extra-Terrestrial Eight's Camp
Lonsdale Park 2008- Room 8
“Oh my god, will this never end!!!” I groaned for the nineteenth time.
Confined in the back seat with Victoria and Annique. FOR AN HOUR!!!!
DUN DUN DUN!!
The reception on the radio was bad, and we didn’t want Jordan’s mum
putting on any old CD’s, so Annique did a little improv. After about an
hour we arrived at Lonsdale Park. Hooray!! It was finally over, and now
it’s time to kick back, relax, and hear my own thoughts. Ha ha ha! It’s
camp, and if you believed that, you sure are gullible. Sorry Matt, but
you’ve got two broken arms, so you won’t be able to go surfing or any
of the stuff like that. “OH MY GOD!!” I cried…
First day away from school and we’re going down to the beach. Yes, down
to the beach………We were divided into three groups, one surfing, one
walking up the hill to the Rainbow Warrior memorial, and one just
playing around on the beach. Our group was on the beach first. We
played cricket and made sand castles. Finally the group came back from
their walk up the hill, and now it was our turn. “Come on its our
turn!” Jordan’s mum called to us.
After we trudged half way up the hill, we stopped at a rest point. “Who
wants lollipops!!!!” Jordan’s mum called to all of us. After we’d all
got given or lollipops we stood in front of the signpost and got our
picture taken. Trudging again, legs aching we finally reached the
Rainbow Warrior Memorial. After we got another lollipop, more pictures,
and a fantastic view we all ran down, eager to go surfing next!!
(except Matthew).
Back down at the beach and in our togs we were all ready to go surfing.
“OK, if you want a wetsuit then go get one from one of the people who
just came back from surfing” The instructor called. “Ok, now you’ve all
got on your togs and wetsuits, go stand infront of a board that is just
bigger than your body. Great, now lie on your board and get in this
position. Awesome, now go get in the water and go surf some waves!!”
She yelled. Not meaning to brag, but I was so good at it! I got up
about 20 times!
For dinner that night we had American Hotdogs. They were so yum! And
no, they aren’t Dog’s from America that are cooked. After dinner, it
was Burma Trail time! And of course I was first. Luckily, the girls
weren’t blindfolded like the boys (ha ha!) Follow the rope, don’t let
go, follow the rope, don’t let go. The mantra pulsed in my mind. I
looked down and something shimmered in the moonlight. “Hey guys, I
think theres water here!” I slid my foot closer to the water and found
a log and slowly crossed it. Suddenly there was a growl, and I ran
forward.
I kept going up, up and up. Then the rope stopped, there was no more.
We heard another growl and a light came on with a face with a grin as
big as a watermelon. “Oh no, that’s not going to work, I know its you
Jordan.” He knew I was Jordan, and I knew he was Hagens Dad. While we
were going back down the track the parents squirted us with water guns.
When we arrived back at camp we went into our rooms and went to sleep.
Bring on the second half of camp!!!!
