WINTER SPORTS - 23/05/08

03/06/08

For Winter Sports I played hockey. It was fun. We had four games two against W.I.S one against Tikipunga and one against Huripaka. Other teams had different game times against different people. My teams overall score was won two lost two. The best thing about it was playing the games because I had fun.

STREAM STUDY

16/6/08

On Wednesday the 4th of June Room 5 went to Otangarei stream to study the water and bugs that live in the stream. The bugs that we found were Water boatmen, Blood worms, Dragonfly nymph and Water fleas. We also found out that the water was very polluted. In the stream we found a tv, a supermarket  trolley, a bag of nappies, a book, two prams, a car and a lot more!

When we arrived in Samoa we left the airport to go to Hotel Kitano. When we got to Kitano we had a swim because it was so hot. The next day we went to Lala Manu Beach. We went snorkelling there, we saw heaps of colourful fish. The next day we went to Apollo deep Beach we saw heaps of colourful fish there as well. The next morning we went to Tanu Beach when we got there we went for a swim. When we woke up the next morning we went to the Lava Fields And Swimming with the turtles. The next day we went to a school then we stayed at Tanu Beach for the rest of the day. The next morning we went back to Kitano and went shopping at the markets. When we woke up the next morning we went to Samoa Primary and played Rugby with them. That night we had a Fia Fia night and then we left Samoa at 1.00am in the morning. My favourite thing in Samoa was snorkelling at Lala Manu Beach.

INTENSIVES

10.11.08

For intensives I did flapping fun and Tapa cloth. Flapping fun was well fun. We cut out the shapes for the bird then we put a layer of white wash on them. Once it was dry we painted them. Mine was pink, blue and purple with a blue ribbon. On Thursday I did tapa cloth. First I ruled a border then I ruled the page into squares. Then we made a design. When I was finished the design in pencil I went over it in vivid. When I was finished with the vivid I was up to dyeing what I wanted to dye. Once the dye was dry I got to scrunch it up to make it soft but we ran out of time when I was half way through scrunching but I got to take it home to finish scrunching it and to iron it flat. It turned out really good.

On Tuesday the 18th of November room 3 and 5 went to McGregors bay. When we got there we were told what we were doing for the day group 1 went snorkelling first. The snorkelling spot was at the end of the bay by some rocks. While group 1 was snorkelling group 2 were playing sport and group 3 were filling in journals and group 4 were going for a walk then about 15 minutes later we swapped so group 1 was filling in journals group 2 was snorkelling group 3 was playing sport and group 4 were on a walk then we had lunch. After lunch the last two groups went snorkelling then we packed up and left. It was a really fun day.
