ROOM 4'S FIRST BLOG10.6.08
This term we have been studying the solar system, weather and the weather cycle. We had to a small project about the solar system. We each picked a planet and done a small study and presentation on it.
Last week it was environmental day on Thursday. To support the cause we had the option to dress in green. We had to pay $1 but the money went to a good cause.
Also last week we had the year seven reading competition. Brandon B from room 4 went through to the syndicate and school finals. Brandon didn’t win the school finals but she did a really great job up there on stage in front of nearly the whole school.

Last Week Of Term Two!!!3.7.08
This week we have been working on an assignment that our teacher gave us. Earlier in the term everyone in the class got into a small group and picked a planet to study. We got back into those groups again this week to do the project. We got given a large sheet of cardboard and a sheet of paper with tasks on it that we all had to complete. That is the only work we are doing for the rest of the term. But at least it’s not work. We had three days this term and one week next term and then we have to hand it in where the teacher will give us a mark.
It was also a great week for us because we got into the Plate Finals for soccer and we have never been in the finals for anything this year! We have beaten Room Seven, Room Two and Nikau B and we are definitely going to beat Room Eleven!!!! Although we lost our first game we still got into the Plate Finals. GO ROOM 4!!!!
On Thursday 3rd of July we have the school social. The social should be great fun because the Class Reps are organising it. The socials were great fun last year so it will be the same again this year! The next day on Friday 4th of July is the end of Term Two so we have mufti as well. That is half of the year gone!!! Everyone can’t wait for the holidays!!!

ROOM 4's CRAFTY BLOG18.08.08
This week in Kowhai we have been doing line dancing, as it is now part of the curriculum. Line dancing was really fun but tricky at the same time, as we had to remember all the steps and then keep on repeating them. We look forward to this week’s lesson.
Also this term as our theme study we are doing Crafty Consumers. For Crafty Consumers we are talking about needs and wants. For example coke is a want and water is a need so we cant always get what we want.
This Friday we also have Cross-Country. We hope that Kowhai gets some good places so we can get more points for our syndicate. We look forward to seeing the results.
GO KOWHAI!!!

Last term we had the market day, which was a huge success. Everyone loved our dessert pizza. It had a chocolate base with marshmallows and white and milk chocolate buttons.
We also had the roadshow last term that was cool but last year’s one was better.
We also moved into our new classroom, which had been completely re-dun. We also got a brand new active board, which is really fun to use.
This term we have intensives. Everyone except for the kids going to Vanuatu and Samoa get to do it. Intensives are really fun. You get three days off school to do more fun and exciting things rather then work.
Also this term we are doing a marine reserve study where Kowhai syndicate goes to Reotahi and goat island. We get to do snorkeling and go on a boat with a glass bottom so we can see all the fish. We are also going to start puberty this week which should be fun!

Last week the three pacific island tour groups went off to their islands and had a great time! One of the groups went to Vanuatu and the other two went to Samoa. I went to Vanuatu and had a good time. But some of us including me got sick ): But the weather was great. We constantly had sunshine Except one day where we had a bit of thunder…We went snorkelling, visited villages and schools, swam with turtles, went to a shark pool, done lots of swimming, and tried a lot of new fruits. The plane trip back was a little scary because there was heaps of turbulence. And on the bus ride home everybody was singing really loudly. Oh and Rosie had her suitcase taken and didn’t get it back until the next night! But the main thing is that we all got home nice and safely (:
Last week we also had intensives, which I heard everyone enjoyed!!
There was heaps of new things for everyone to try, like, Horse riding, vertical playground, paintball, badminton, swimming, ten-pin bowling, chocolate making, and heaps more!!

This term we have been studying Marine Reserves. We went on two trips both having different habitats for the marine life. The first place we went to was McGregor’s Bay where from what I have heard wasn’t very fun! Because apparently only a couple of people saw any fish well one to be exact. The other place we went to was Goat Island, which was really fun but extremely cold. Hope and I were screaming every time we saw any seaweed. Ewww. We saw lots of fish though. We even saw and eagle ray, which was REALLY scary!
We have also been fundraising for our end of year trip to the Poor Knights. Which should be a fun experience for the whole syndicate. We are having a grocery raffle to try and lower the price. The grocery raffle also includes a large Christmas ham!
