Return Of The Sixteen Blogs
EARTH SCIENCE9/6/08
All term Room 16 has been researching Earth science.
We started out learning about water, then the earth’s layers, the solar system and weather, the Plates, now we are learning about natural disasters.
A little while ago, Mrs Tebbutt made us do three missions, which we could choose out of five, and present in front of the class. The missions were;
1-Song about weather,
2-Find out where disasters mostly happen,
3-Greenhouse effect,
4-Venn diagram of Equator, South/North pole, New Zealand,
5-Make a news report.
Recently (last week) we had to make up our own planet for Homework.
We had to make up the life forms, resources, how they travel, how they communicate etc.
We had to present this all in our books.

THE FIRST TERM THREE BLOGTuesday 5th AugustFriday Week 1
KIS was visited by an American Orchestra called Cincinnati Junior Strings. Two stayed in our class for a while. They were Brittany and Melanie. Our class reps had to show them around.
Our Kapa Haka group performed our school song (Nga Puawai O Ngapuhi) and a haka (ka mate ka mate.)
Tuesday Week 2
Some Japanese students have come to New Zealand and our school to learn about our language and culture for 2 weeks. Courtney in our class is helping Kenji. He comes to our class every now and then.
Wednesday Week 2
Mr. Smith had the idea of every class supporting a country during the Olympics. Each class drew out a country (19 in all) and Room 16 drew out Japan.
GO JAPAN!!
CROSS COUNTRYTuesday 26th August
On Friday we all had Cross Country. It was hard, frustrating, sore and very exhausting.
We started in the middle of the rugby field, it went through the soccer field, it came round by the computer and music rooms, we went round the far hockey goal. We did this TWICE!!
The second time round, we jumped over the school fence and went around to Cowley Place. Went around the hockey and soccer fields again, around a tree and ran to the finish.
All together it was 3.8kms, and the fastest time was about 10 minutes.
Lucas did the cross country in more than ten minutes, but still beat Bailey.

First Term 4 BlogTuesday 14th AugustWow we haven’t been to Webslingers in ages.
Anyway, not much has happened since we last updated.
There’s been the roadshow which only two people in our class performed in. (Summer and Bailey) They were in the Kapa Haka group.
Then it was the holidays. Finally the holidays!
Nobody did much, we don’t think.
Going back to school was hard. We’d just gotten used to the holidays and school comes up. But now we’re back and it feels like there never were any holidays.
Did your holidays go well?

Intensives!!Monday 3rd NovemberLast week was intensives, yay!
Everyone gets three intensives chosen by the teachers. On Wednesday Lucas did Games Galore. He played lots of board games and outside games like Table Tennis and Badminton. On Thursday he did Chocolate Lovers. The yummiest thing he made was a thing called Rocky Road Ice cream. It was yum.
On Friday he did Paintballing (Ouch.) It was $5 for fifty bullets, the first two hundred were free. It was mean.
On Wednesday Bronwyn did Pacifica Art. She made a piece of artwork that was bush coloured.
On Thursday she did Mosaics. She made a cross shaped Mosaic out of an old plate.
On Friday she was away ☹ She was supposed to do Badminton.
