Brilliant 'Nikau Blogs'
OUR FIRST BLOG!!!!!!!!10/6/08It’s the middle of Term 2 and so much has already happened! Another contract, another focus question (what makes our earth unique?) and other stuff like maths that isn’t as interesting.
Now we know our classmates, we have a chance to make new friends.
Over the past couple of weeks we have had Winter Sports, The Minstrel, extensions, most people are getting stuck into Day Zero and the successful 40-hour Famine raised over $7000. Bands are already practising for the upcoming Roadshow.
Nikau B specialist has been really fun, with the yr 7’s doing Music, Textiles & Design and Design Tech and the yr 8’s doing Hard Materials, Nutrition, Art, and both are doing Computers and Te Reo Maori on Day 3.

THIRD BLOG!!!12/08/08After the holidays it was right back into it! We had signup sheets for the WIS/KIS challenge that was supposed to be today! But due to bad weather it was postponed to another date!
We started a new Specialist rotation so the Year-8’s are doing what we were last term (Music, Textiles and Design and Hard Materials) doing and we are doing what the year eights were doing last term (Art, Nutrition and Design technology)
We had Japanese students staying (billeted) with some of our students for 2 weeks. On the last day of Term 2 we had the Cincinnati junior strings perform at our school they were really good and some were really young they aged from nine to fifteen.
The cross country is coming up really soon! And on the same day we are having a Olympics fun day where every class has a country that they adopt and they follow right through the Olympics they find out their country at an assembly and that assembly has all ready been! We drew out France so we now are studying France as well as our new contract crafty consumers how can New Zealand be responsible traders and consumers? And near the end of the term there is going to be a trade day!
Mr Palmer has gone for a holiday to Germany and London so we get a reliever called Mrs Grant and she’s really cool!
There are many exciting events happening and many more to come!

Bonjour!
We have now found out which talented people made it into the Roadshow, one of our class reps will be a MC.
Our school Cross-Country is this week, and on the same day we have Inter-Class Tabloids, Nikau B will be France!!!
It is already week 5! We are very busy. Today we had specialist, yr8’s had Music and yr7’s had Art, they are making a poster on marine reserves, like drawing fishes and seaweed in pastels. In Music we are making music!
In other news, Mrs Grant is still relieving, she’s a very good teacher and there is 2 weeks left until Mr Palmer comes back from Europe.
That’s about it for now,
Bye-bye!

We haven’t written for almost 3 weeks now. Cross country is over, so is K.I.S Olympics, the Roadshow is rolling, spring is here and its finally getting warmer! Awesome!
Mr Palmer came back from Germany (and London) in time for him to be there when we did the best thing which we did for 2 days, were so talented we’re gonna be famous one day!! It was so much fun and we learnt about co-operation, communication and participation.
The year 8’s did Life Ed and they learnt a lot. We have speeches coming up and they have to be persuasive.
It’s almost the end of term 3 and we are extremely busy with the market day coming up on Friday.

Last term we had the Robros road show, lots of talented students performed lots of things from singing to gymnastics it was very successful with our show being taken over by weird robots that can talk
Next week we have the big high school exams that will determine what classes we will be in for math and another subject that I can’t remember.
So it’s straight back into it this term, with assemblies and extensions starting again this week,

Its week 4 of term 4 and quite a lot has already happened, like the social, intensives and some yr8’s were lucky enough to go on the pacific islands tour!
Last week we had intensives which is three days of doing different activities or just a big 3 day activity whatever you have its really fun! Some activities you do where you stay in school some you stay out but I think there is only one where you were sometimes out and sometimes in school! And that was orienteering.

Blog 7 ! ! ! !17.11.08Hey everybody!
In Nikau we have started our Antarctica topic, with “can children of the future enjoy our living world?” as our question.
Georgia P. went to Vanuatu with the school for an “educational” trip. They left on the 26th October and the flight took 3 hours, they came back on the 2nd November. They held snakes, coconut crabs and iguanas and went swimming with sharks, turtles and sea cows.
Last Friday was a mufti day; this was the last mufti day of the year!!
We are down to our last couple of weeks at school, for year 8’s it’s the last weeks of Intermediate, because next year we are going to…… HIGHSCHOOL
Have a nice week!
