Year 7 Reading Competition-17th June 2008
On the 2nd of June, 6 Year-7 students from Nikau syndicate, read their books in front of Nikau. These 6 students where chosen as the best from their class Reading Competition. From Nikau A our two readers we sent through were Hannah and Sara.
The competition was tough and was eventually narrowed down to the top 3. These being: Hannah, Sara and Re-Joyce. After the sudden death, a decision was made. It was very close. Nikau decided to send Re-Joyce through. She did Nikau proud and won the school final for the Year-7 reading competition.

BERNINA FASHION AWARDS29th July 2008
It had been getting closer and closer. Finally, after weeks spent in the art room, the Bernina fashion awards had dawned. Bernina Fashion awards involve making either a mask or a piece of wearable art. I, Danica and around 10 others had been chosen to create a mask, so over the time period of 6 weeks we had created different styles of mask. A dragon, fireplace, rainbow and a rose were a few of the mask that were made. The pre judging was nerve racking as the judges prodded and poked at my carefully made mask, but after the weeks spent painting, pasting and pretty-ing I was very proud of my mask.

K.I.S OLYMPICSTuesday 12th August 2008
The Olympics just gets more exciting as it goes along. KIS is joining in!
Each class drew out a country from a hat that we follow during the event. My class got Norway (that is next to Sweden).
We also have the cross country I mean a Marathon on the 22nd August. On the morning of the KIS Marathon we are going to have Olympic Tabloids, dressing up in the colours of our country. By the way, Norway and New Zealand had a good game of women’s soccer with Norway winning 1-0.

Cross Country Catastrophe- 22nd August
As the year 8 girls lined up at the starting line, a buzz of anticipation flooded through the crowd. Nerves jumping, butterflies in a frenzy and hearts pounding. Yes, today, the 22nd of August was Cross Country.
First of all the Year 8 girls ran the approximately 2 to 3k track around Kamo Intermediate and the streets around. The winner of this race was Nikau A’s own Tayla who bet Abbey, 2nd. As the day closed and the year 7 boys finally finished, all the worries of cross-country had disappeared. At the end of the day, the 4 who came out on top were: Tayla (Nikau 8 Girl), Bridget (Rimu 7 Girl), Ethan C (Tawa 8 Boy) and Ethan P (Nikau 7 Boy). Overall it was a great day and everybody was proud of themselves.

Vanuatu Tour Group- Week
10-11-08 Week 5
On 26 of October, I woke up at 2 am, along with 29 other KIS students and 11 other parents. We were all set for the trip, which we had been saving, working, and fundraising for over 8 months. The Vanuatu tour 2008! After a long flight to Vanuatu from Auckland we arrived tired but anticipating the next week. It was so great and everybody really enjoyed it. We learnt about new cultures, and got to experience a different, less fortunate life from ours, including swimming with sharks and turtles, holding snakes and crabs, and visiting different villages. Eventually, we all returned to NZ with memories forever in mind and a great once-in-a-life-time experience.

Week 7 Blog- Talent quest preparation
The adrenaline was pumping, the practice was climbing to the next level of intensity, and a murmur of excitement was rippling around Kamo Intermediate. The school talent quest was coming to school. As for me (Hannah), my dance group was hard rehearsing, and forming a perfect dance routine that would get us through to the next level. As for the other teams hard at work, they were practicing their performances of dancing, singing, skits, and other weird and wonderful talents, all preparing for the moment of truth. Who will win the school talent quest?
