You may ask, what happens at Kamo Intermediate in the last two weeks of Term Three? Well, I will answer your question. It’s the Roadshow of course! The Roadshow is a show that K.I.S puts on every year for Whangarei Primary schools, other K.I.S students and the general public that includes dancers, singers, gymnasts, comedians and this year even puppets!
Each year the Roadshow has a theme. This year it is the “U B Urself tour-B Unique, B Talented, B one of a kind.”
On the day of the dress rehearsal, the teachers are pulling their hair out in stress and on the last night, their faces are smiling, happy ones and you can tell that they are proud of all the performers.
During the two weeks we perform four times for Kamo Intermediate, and once each for the primary schools: Kamo Primary, Hurupaki Primary, Tikipunga Primary, Totara Grove Primary, Portland School, Whau Valley Primary, Glenbervie Primary, Otaika School, Whangarei Primary and Hora Hora School. We also perform for the residents of the Whangarei Falls Rest Home.
Then, on the last Thursday night of term we perform for the general public in the Kamo Intermediate School hall. We add in a few extra acts and a hilarious teachers’ dance. This is the main performance that we look forward to and practice for. The crowds this year were awesome, especially the last night. When the crowd is pumping, the acts seem to get better and better.
Miss Delaney, Dancer Extraordinaire, Mr. Witten, Computer Whiz, Mr. Hughes, Music and Techno Genius, Mr. Smith, our Awesome Principal, and all the other teachers, are what makes everything happen. They put in SO much effort and give their own time to make the Roadshow what it is. Thank you SO much!
If you ever have the chance to see the K.I.S Roadshow, I definitely recommend it. I guarantee that you will have a fantastic time. OR if you ever have the chance to be in it, you should definitely go for it! It’s an excellent experience for all who participate and for all who watch it. You’ll want to see it over and over again.
