On Wednesday 24th October, students from Kamo Intermediate School set out for their intensive…climbing the mighty Mount Manaia.

Arriving with a hyped Mrs Te Whata, the students made their way up the mountain encountering slight disadvantages on the way. With grazed or muddy knees the students along with the puffed adults reached the top of the mountain in exactly 1 hour and 45 minutes.

The view that covers all over the Bay was said as “Breathtaking” and “The best thing I have ever seen!”

It was when they were making their way back down the mountain when the students encountered the problems.

Twisted ankles were just the beginning, for young adolescent Cassidie from Room 16 had caught her ankle in a crevise of a sharp rock! No other injuries had taken place apart from the bruises of slipping down the muddy hillside.

As soon as the students arrived safely back to school, Mrs Te Whata treated the trampers with ice blocks, The perfect ending to a perfect day.
