BENDING WITS, MINDS AND BODIES

The word is out… being whispered from ear to ear… slowly rippling outwards, lapping at the minds and imaginations of KIS students everywhere…

INTENSIVES!!!

Three, full on, jam packed, creative days, which bend the wits, minds and physical abilities of KIS students everywhere…

Anticipating heartbeats are not only contained by students. Hosting teachers also get the thrill of climbing Mt. Mania, the buzz of letting creative juices flow in Pacifica Art, engaging in a breathtaking game of Paintball/Strategy Tag, and many bucketloads more.

But not all of this is sugar and candy. Cheque books fly, piggybanks are raided, parents are bending over backwards to get money and forms from schoolbags to teachers, and climbing up walls at the sight of their penniless wallets, bare as a graveyard on Halloween. Meanwhile, teachers are yanking out their hair until there is nothing left to yank out, at the giant tsunami of money and forms, threatening to drown them in frustration.

Eventually though, the tsunami subsides, and we all sink into the rhythm of Intensives – one wacky day after another of so-called “schoolwork”.

Thankfully, the teachers have time to grow back their yanked–out hair, as this significant event occurs only once a year – three days out of 365, filled with hectic fun, building up to the final day, the final activity, the final completion – Intensives at it’s peak.

So finally, the bell rings for the last time – the once leaping ripples of Intensives slowly die out as the ship of excitement sails off into the distance, to return next year, bringing the fun and good times back to KIS. But unlike ordinary ripples, the ripples of Intensives leave evidence, lapping at our memories, and etching themselves a home there forever.
