KIDZBIZ Journalism
KAMO INTERMEDIATE SCHOOL
Extension Programme
The KidzBiz Publishing Company (Established in 1999 by Mrs Parry) is responsible for the WORLD FAMOUS (in New Zealand), Kamo Intermediate School - KIDZBIZ STUDENT NEWSPAPER!!!
Currently working on our 17th Edition, Mrs Parry and her team of managing Editors (the E-Team) run KIDZBIZ from the Enrichment Unit (Room 12). Selected students from all over the school meet once a week to write articles, edit, re-edit, tweak, publish, layout pages, take photos, design graphics and adverts.
In the past we published 2 or 3 editions a year, but since 2005 we now do one big, colourful annual "magazine style" newspaper. The difference between Edition 1 and Edition 16 is remarkable but there is one constant, potential for writing turned into passion for journalism.
One Former KidzBiz Reporter has continued in the Journalism field. She worked at Kamo High School on thier school Newsletters and Magazine, before doing a years study at a Journalism course in Hamilton. She is now writing for one of Whangarei's local newspapers.
We also take care of the Student Gazette which is distributed every 2 weeks along with the KIS newsletter.

KIDZ BIZ - What's It About
By Elisa H - Room10 (KidzBiz Reporter 2004)
KidzBiz the magazine is what you are reading right now. It takes about 30 people to make a school magazine. Every Friday, selected writers all gather in Room 12 (the Enrichment Room) to compose articles and edit writing.
Every year we release 2 different magazines for the journalism team, 2 copies for each classroom, library, foyer, Principal and our sponsors! We don’t just write all the time. We also lay out the paper, go to Calders, print out the colour pages, collate and staple 120 copies with 25 pages in each! IT IS REALLY FUN.
Other good things about KidzBiz are meeting new kids, interviewing heaps of interesting people around the school, LOADS of laughter, taking photos (thankfully we’ve got Paps as our computer genius!) and we can come and do work in Room 12 anytime, which means we can bunk off fitness and any boring work.
