ON OUR CLASS CAMP!!
Room 17’s Camp 2007

Pack your bags we’re going on camp, Ngunguru here we come!!!
Driving on the hot tarsealed road, we shifted uncomfortably in the backseat, the music was blaring, the cars in front polluting the air with fumes from their black exhaust.
As we approached the marae, we all piled out of the stuffy cars eager for a stretch dozens of legs piled out of cars and trouped up the gravel entranceway, after being welcomed with a Powhiri we strolled onto their land.
After a guided tour we jumped into cars and made our way to the lighthouse for a “Pink Peg Hunt”. The rest stop didn’t last long and soon enough we were off up the steep trail toward the lighthouse. Photos were taken and sights were seen, the journey back down seemed shorter as lunch awaited us.
After tribes were read out we yet again piled into cars and off to a glorious Sandy Bay. Surfing and sand castles made the day complete, sadly we trudged back to cars and left for the marae where we ate, slept and washed.
But as we learnt, there was so much more instore!!
Snorkelling at the Poor Knights marine reserve was excellent, Tribal Challenges made new friends for most, as we supported and encouraged our team mates, cheering for the Weetbix Challenge (trying to eat one dry Weetbix as fast as you can). Yelling for the raft race, as teams stormed to victory while others weren’t doing so well, but that didn’t change our enthusiastic class.
Overall camp was awesome I would go again any time!!
