MANGAWHAI AND PEAK ADVENTURES
Nikau C’s Camp 2007

By Paul and J.S

It’s camp time again, and we head off to Mangawhai. The first thing everybody was interested in would probably be the trampoline. Everyone was showing their cool back flips and flippy things.

After we had settled in Mrs Smith was mean sending us on one mountain of a hike! Even though I admit it was fun, it was still annoying.

The next day we went we went sea-biscuiting and kayaking which was one of my personal favourites. Even though it hurt your butt as you speed across the water, it was still fun. Kayaking was a lot more gentle, smoothly sliding across the water.

After the morning rotation we packed our bags and headed off to Peak Adventures! When we got there we unpacked the cars, then had lunch – finally! Cane [The main guy] was really funny! After he told us were to unpack and showed us around, we put our stuff into bid huge tents. Now it was time for the first rotation!

We did the water hole first, it was solar heated, it had a rope swinging out into the water and tyre tubes sounds luxury right, wrong. It was FREZZING!

Next it was abseiling, this was another of our personal favourites, it was so cool! But when we got to the time of rock climbing we only got about one turn each.

The next day we had our next rotation flying fox and my personal favourite CAVING! Flying fox was first, we were all harnessed on so we could go upside down on it, it was so cool! But most fun of all CAVING, all the men were shown with the bladder bats in the cave, are you feeling scared already? Well it doesn’t matter because we didn’t see any!

Too bad after caving we had to go back to Mangawhai, but it wasn’t all bad because we would get power back. When we got back we had to do the Amazing race I didn’t see anything amazing about eating olives or getting lost around Mangawhai. Obviously not my thing!

That was pretty much the end of our camp, Nikau C should look forward to next year!
