K.I.S SCIENCE FAIR - 18th July 2006
Over 200 entries were involved in our Science and Technology Fair. Kamo Intermediate Students covered subjects such as Snails, Farm Equipment, Golf, Solar Powered Gadgets, Hygiene, Flowers, Streams & Water, the Environment, Garments, Sports, Psychology, Food and many types of Inventions. Putting together an exhibit, planning, gathering, thinking and displaying - all those that took part have gained in knowledge and experience.
Our two K.I.S Scientific Guru’s Mr. Kivell and Mr. Epskamp as well as the many teachers, parents and students thought it was one of the best yet, as far as the range of scientific topics explored went. Over the years there has been a move toward more Technology based exhibits rather than the Investigation/Science ones. This is probably a reflection of the emphasis here at school on the Technology component of the curriculum.
Because of the high standard at our Science Fair, Mr. Epskamp negotiated with the organisers to have more than our allocated number of entries at the Central Northland Science and Technology Fair held at Forum North starting the week of 21st August.
