K.I.S HOCKEY STARS *UPDATE* - 6th November 2006
With the announcement by New Zealand Hockey of this years “Black Sticks” Trials, Kamo Intermediate has 5 former students involved in the Womens Trial Teams.
They are Charlotte Harrison, Laura Douglas, Stacy Michelsen, Alana Millington (all playing for Northland) and Jan Rowsell (who plays for North Harbour). CONGRATULATIONS for being selected. And GOOD LUCK!!! We’ll all be thinking of you.
At Kamo Intermediate one of our strong suits is the KIS Hockey Programme. A lot of Representative Hockey Players have passed through our school gate, the latest notable stars being Charlotte Harrison who is the youngest member of the current NZ Black Sticks Squad (this being her second year) and our latest Black Stick Laura Douglas.
Of course we have had a huge number of National Age Group Reps, but in the 2006 Northland Womens Hockey Team we have "TEN" former KIS Students, they Are:
TANIA CRENE - Northland Womens Hockey Captain (who will also be teaching in Tawa's Room 11 during the Fourth Term). LAURA DOUGLAS - (Northlands latest Black stick, who's father Ross works here every now and then). KELSEY DUNN - (who's sister is currently in the KIS 'A' Grade team). CHARLOTTE HARRISON - (youngest Black Stick and former Room 5 student). ALANA MILLINGTON - The only student to win both the Citizenship and Sportsperson Awards in the same year. CARLI MICHELSEN and STACI MICHELSEN - (Who's Mum works in the Resource Room). JASMIN MCQUINN and JESSIE MCQUINN - our Room 11 Teacher (who will be leaving the KIS Whanau to do her 'OE'). ANNA THORPE - (Who attended KIS at the same time as Laura Douglas).
Also closely related to the “KIS Whanau” is NICKI ATTWOOD (who did her section training here in Room 13).
So just imagine what could happen, with hard work, lots of dedication and training, training, training to our current crop of Hockey Players and where they might end up in the future.
(Remember only 4 years ago Charlotte was still here in Mrs Battersby’s class in Kowhai Syndicates Room 5!)
