A MEMORABLE CAMP
Pataua North camp, about half an hour from Whangarei. There was a bridge, water and heaps of grass…… WOW! We were going to have a blast. We had to sleep in tents on the hard grass.
Now time for the fun!
After going to frog town, we decided to jump off the bridge.
While some walked the plank others jumped off the rail into the cool refreshing water of Patau North estuary.
After some lasagne for tea and a game of spotlight we hit the tents.
Tuesday, while groups of six left to catch some waves others had a blast on the water slide.
Wednesday the class got separated into four groups to run around like mad ducks around Patau to find clues. A very energetic day, we were all too tired for spotlight.
Thursday, TRIBAL CHALLENGE!!! There were nervous jitters as we got into two teams. Miss McQuinn blew the whistle and we were off!
We built a raft, sailed across the estuary, searched for some cards and sprinted back to camp. We were SOAKING and tired but we had a blast.
Friday, after packing up our tents, gossiping about a mysterious man who roamed land during the dark and having a sausage sizzle we left back for Kamo Intermediate. We were wiped and tired but we had a BLAST!!!
We left Patua North with a lot of new friends and joyful memories.
We asked four students what their thoughts were of camp. Lizzie and Dylan (Yr8) and Julia and Jonathan (Yr7)
Lizzie: What was your favourite thing?
Surfing and everyone working together
What was the most challenging?
The time bomb, we didn’t understand the rules or questions.
Dylan: Did you enjoy the tribal challenge?
Yes, cause it was challenging.
Was Channel K used at camp?
Yes, we were very Channel K at the tribal challenge.
Julia: Did you find jumping off the bridge challenging and why?
Yes, because it was scary and high.
How did you feel when you reached the top of the hill?
Tired, exhausted and proud that I had reached the top.
Jonathan: Did you make any new friends? Who?
Yes, KJ, Nicholas and Karl.
Do you like the new class? Why?
Yeah, because it’s fun and they are Channel K, Miss McQuinn is cool!!
