OUR MARAE EXPERIENCE

Day 1: we went and did paintball in the bush. It was a bit slippery but still really fun. Then we went and feed the animals. There were horse, ducks, sheep and deer. After that we had to go to the Powhiri and were welcomed onto the marae.

Day 2: We were rudely awoken by a cell phone alarm at 5:30 in the morning. Mrs Tewhata decided that instead of letting us sleep in, that we would go for a walk/run across the beach. Actives followed breakfast such as kayaking, weaving with flax and then a 2 kilometre hike to whale bay.

Day 3: Another early walk, after that we went down to the beach and did surfing which managed to such up our whole day. Then we came back to the marae and practised the dance that we were going to perform to the parents on Thursday.


Day 4:Another early walk, after that we prepared and got ready for the Powhiri before our parents came. The Marae was filled up with everybody. First up was the boys speeches and when the talk was over it was kai time, we had Hangi for tea, it tasted nice it was beautiful!. After that we were allowed to reunite with our parents. As we did so all of us had a game of bull rush. Then at the finish we done our R.E.S.P.E.C.T song in front of our parents then they all went back home.

Day 5:woke up and had another walk on the beach. Then we came back and packed and stacked the marae. Next we all put our belongings on the ground so that it would have been loaded in the cars when we arrived at school we all waited for our parents and all went home.
