Tall Puppet Parade 2005
on Saturday March 6th the Students of Kamo Intermediate were involved in the Whangarei Tall Puppet Parade which was part of the local "Endless Summer Festival"

This year Hayley (Artist in Residence) and some selected students built the latest member of the Kamo Intermediate whanau - KISS the Taniwha ! KISS was constructed to represent our school in Saturdays parade. 22 of the school's students (and a couple of friends from Canada) were part of the team to represent us in the parade. Well done to everyone there including the parents some who even dressed up (Lisa'a mum), I thought we were the coolest puppet team there.

Thai Student Visit
On 23rd of March this year 12 students, their Principal and her husband arrive from MATHAYOM WATSING School in Bangkok, THAILAND to visit us at Kamo Intermediate. They stayed for 2 weeks and the main purpose of the trip was to learn English.

They were treated to trips around Northland including the Bay Of Islands, Waitangi and of course Whangarei. We at "THE BEST INTERMEDIATE IN THE WORLD" enjoyed having their cultural influence around our school and we hope they enjoyed themselves as well (See group photos below).

Mr Smith Goes To . . . Everywhere!

Our Principal, Mr J.A. Smith this year has been awarded the APPA/ASB Travelling Fellowship, so what does this mean. This means he will be travelling around the world for the next three months observing different schools in Canada, USA, Scotland and England as well as the various "Golf Courses" around the globe.

Of course the main purpose is to look around, and pick up different ideas from the schools. Also find out how they run and do things in different countries and at different types of schools. Hopefully any ideas he picks up he will then try here when he returns for Term 3.

You can see how his trip is going as he will send e-mails and photos from the various parts of the world and will be posting them on his PRINCIPALS PAGE check it out to see where or what he is up to!!

Mr Smith's Journey Page Is where you can check out his E-Mails from around the world
Mr Smith's Photo Page Is where you can check out photos from his travels
(The Travelling "Smiths" Journey begins April 2005)
