W.I.S - K.I.S CHALLENGE SHIELD
We had the WIS - KIS Challenge where half of our teams went down to Whangarei Intermediate and half of their teams came to our school. Unfortunately (due to Authorities Censorship) we are not allowed to say that the only K.I.S team that won here at Kamo was the Year 7 Girls Soccer Team. We also can't report that the final Challenge Points Score was 6 - 5 to WIS (They scored 4 games to 1 here and we scored 4 games to 2 down at W.I.S

INTERMEDIATE RUGBY LEAGUE TOURNAMENT 27-28 June 2005
Kamo Intermediate under the Coaching of Mr Kini had a team competing in the Rugby League Age-Group Tournament Which was held over 2 days.

It was a tough 1st day with losses to Kaitaia Intermediate (they gave it their all and almost had a "WARRIORS" like comeback) 22-12 and to Whangarei Intermediate.

The Team had a great 2nd day by beating Dargaville Intermediate and having a draw against Bream Bay. It ended up that we had a rematch with Bream Bay for 3rd & 4th place, which we were fortunate to win so Kamo Intermediate came THIRD

A real eye-opener was all the skills the guys & girls exhibited with some great running, cool passing and tough tackling. WELL DONE TO EVERYONE INVOLVED!

BLACK-OUT FRIDAY - 24th June 2005
The Date: 25th June 2005 - The Time: 10.30am - The Place: Centre Court - The Event: "BLACKOUT Friday" @ KIS!!
To show support for our rugby team the "All Blacks" Everyone at school were allowed to wear not their uniform but anything as long as it was BLACK! Of course 2 people showed up wearing some red teams jerseys but Students, Staff and Teachers got into it (one even did a Nonu and wore eyeliner VW). So at least one school did their little bit and we hope the "ALL BLACKS" have a great win!!!!!

BEACH TO BASIN Fun Run 2005
Sunday 7th of March the ”Beach To Basin” Fun Run took place. As usual the response from the Kamo Intermediate Students was very impressive with 40 student teams taking part, this meant at least 200 KIS kids were involved. Some of our KIS Staff also took part but none would share finishing times. (photos coming soon – hopefully)

WHANGAREI RUGBY 7's TOURNAMENT
During February Kamo Intermediate entered a team into the "Whangarei Rugby 7's". Played on the Saturday morning before the start of the main competition Our team played some great rugby as they became their Age Group Tournament Champions. So congratulations to Tuhi H, Devron P, Ammon P, Harley K, Waeke K, Clayton P, Katie R, Samaria T, Tawhai T, Kane B and Adam C. Also we must thank the coach Geoff Crawford. (see team photo below)

TABLOIDS
The first Inter-Class Competition has been run with the school TABLOIDS taking place on Friday the 4th and 11th of February. It was Fun, tiring, FUN, wet (a lot of the games involved water) and FUN! The students all had a great time. (see photos below)

WAKA-AMA
During the school holidays (January) the National Waka-Ama Championships took place at Lake Karapiro and some of our K.I.S Whanau were competing.

Members of the 'Mitimitaga Ole’ Pasifika Waka Ama Club included the “Boil Up Boyz” - Jamille R, Kyran H, John P and Maui W, “The Oceania Deevaz” – Shardaye P, Asher P, Rikki L, Christi-Lee B and Anita K. Also included in the J.16 “Paua Frittaz" were Arahi P and Troy H.

The “Paua Frittaz” although competing well missed out on a medal, but the “Boil Up Boyz” did great and received a Bronze in their event. The Awesome “Oceania Deevaz” won the silver medal for their racing (well done). As well as racing for the B.U.B team Jamille also raced with the J.16 team The "Puha Boyz" as the steerer and his team won the GOLD way to go!!

Not just our kids competed but our CEO Mrs Sue Drake who races for the ‘Owhiuwa’ Waka Ama Club won a GOLD in the Double Hull race (She has represented NZ in Hawaii last year). Congratulations to everyone Being the Best They Can Be.
